I’m into the last few pages of Stephen King’s On Writing and wondering why I hadn’t read it before – or even heard about it until recently. Sensible, straightforward advice and honest (one of King’s favourite words) also. That is, there’s no magic bullet which turns us into good writers, only hard work and learning the craft – and some talent to start with, if one dares say that! Likewise to being published – hard work, research and, for most, a step at a time.
But it’s an uplifting and encouraging read and if you haven’t read it and you’re a writer – ask for it for Christmas.
