Sprinkled with a good deal of humour, some lovely imagery, and a cast of intriguing characters, The Secret Lives of the Doyenne of Didsbrook is an easy, fun holiday/weekend read.
You have to love a classic British cosy mystery – the beautiful ancient village, the aristocratic family living in the manorial home, the connections, the newcomer who doesn’t understand how things are done around here, and the young heroine who refuses to believe that her famous mentor’s death can possibly be suicide.

Such is Lucy, budding author and actress, who cannot take in that her friend and supporter Jocelyn (Joc for short, pronounced Josh) is dead by her own hand, as the police investigation concludes.
Joc has so much to live for, including fulfilling her promise to Lucy to work with her on her novel, and Joc would never break a promise.
When Lucy falls across some of Joc’s notebooks, she sets out on a veritable roller coaster of discovery, unveiling secrets which in some cases might perhaps have been best left in the past. The genre necessary climactic reveal is worthy of Miss Marple.
Great cover too!
