Bream Book Fair is my favourite event of the year. The Book Fair was initiated by a wonderful local woman who saw that the big marquee used for the Bream Flower Show on the Sat stood empty on the Sunday before being dismantled … so she decided to fill it with a book fair, and raise money for the local charity she organises, Packed with Love.
Packed with Love fills bags with essentials and non-essentials (toys, sweets) for children who find themselves in emergency housing. All volunteers, they work tirelessly all year round to raise the money needed, and the Book Fair has become their biggest fund-raiser.

The first year, 4 years ago, wasn’t encouraging – a handful of stalls in a draughty tent and soggy underfoot. I went along just to look, and wondered if it would happen again. But it did, and for each of the last three years I’ve had wonderful days there selling my books to keen and interested visitors.
This year there are over 30 authors in the big tent, and outside there are craft stalls, kids activities and a tea tent (home made cake).
If you’re anywhere local, come along and browse – bound to find something to suit your reading taste.
